To create the Cushions in Maya, I used a rectangular polygon divided into 4 sections on length and with and 2 sections in height. Using the control vertex I selected the ones on the sides and scaled them on the height to create the puffiness of the cushion shape. To further create this allusion I selected the control vertex (CV) point of the center of the bottom and top face and pulled them out.
I smoothed out the mesh and selected the corner CV points and pulled them out to create a point on tn the cushions. Then selected all the middle CV points of all sides and scaled them outwards to create the edges of the cushion.
To create the irregularities in the cushions I used soft select to select different CV points to move them and create the irregularities.
Later the cushions were placed on the couch using move and rotate. more cushions were created using scale and soft select to give it the shape and irregularity of the cushion in the couch.
