Mark Hemel + Barbara Kuit and their Amsterdam firm, Information Based Architecture, designers of the tower, are pleased to announce that world’s tallest TV and Sightseeing tower is now a fact. The Canton Tower is Guangzhou’s most important new building and will represent the 10 million inhabitants counting metropolis as a cool, progressive and exciting city. Guangzhou is now ready to host the Asian Games that will take place in November 2010. The world’s tallest TV tower – reaching 600m in height, is bypassing Toronto’s CN tower, and is hoped to attract 10 000 visitors daily.

Slovenian-based firm OFIS architecture has proposed ‘all seasons tent tower’ as part of the mercedes benz hotel tower competition for the city of yerevan, armenia. The concept of the project joins two terraced cylindrical towers connected in the ground floor, embraced with a green tent-shape layer. The higher tower will be used as a restaurant, pool, spa, fitness centre and bar. it will also house a hotel and apartments along with a business centre, shops and a garage. The lower structure which extends outwards from the main tower will serve as housing and exhibition hall as well as garage. Read More »

Austrian firm soma has recently finished the work on the construction plans of the Thematic Pavilion for the Expo 2012 Yeosu in Korea. Their winning design proposal was announced in 2009 and now has successfully been adapted to fit the building budget and exhibition concept.
The kinetic media facade was developed according bionic principles to underline the expo’s agenda. Soma’s project will be presented as a part of the austrian exhibition for the venice architecture biennale 2010 – curated byEric Owen Moss.
