Andrew Emmet: Form Study

Followed the deformation technique to create a mobius strip. Then imagined this flattened version as a tensile membrance brace for a footbridge over a gorge. I tried to add an illustrative quality to this one. I wasn't planning on using this render to create the image so I didnt take an ambient occlusion shot from the same perspective. I think that would've helped to give it depth.

  1. The final rendering is a good illustration. Consider going back into your model and using soft select around the areas where you want the tensile wire to meet the fabric structure. this will give the sense that they are pulling on the fabric. I agree that a little ambient occlusion would help. In any event the object is well integrated into the environment. Think about creating one that looks like a net structure by extruding the faces locally.
