Kristi Buchler: Midterm Model 1

This form began as a torus. Several sections of vertices were selected and manipulated, and then areas were manipulated with a lattice. Next, the two bridges across the top were created with the bridge tool. Edge loops were selected and then chamfered to create a pattern, and then all faces were extruded twice to create depth and a structural-skin. The whole form was then smoothed.

The inner faces have a 'thick glass' mia-material-x with slightly orange-hued ambient occlusion. The other surfaces are a 'matte plastic' mia-material-x with strong ambient occlusion distance settings.

The last of the images below was brought into photoshop to create a wetland scene.
